The Nasarawa State Police Command has deployed 2,231 officers across the state to ensure the safety of lives and property before, during, and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, ordered the massive deployment as part of a comprehensive security strategy aimed at guaranteeing peaceful festivities. The personnel have been spread across all police formations in the state, with a focus on providing adequate security at places of worship, recreational centers, markets, motor parks, highways, and other public spaces expected to witness large gatherings.
According to the Command, the deployment will strengthen visibility policing, round-the-clock patrols, stop-and-search operations, and intelligence-led surveillance to deter criminal activities and ensure swift responses to any security threats. Special attention is being paid to identified flashpoints, crime-prone areas, and border communities.
Traffic officers have also been strategically positioned to ensure the free flow of vehicles and reduce congestion on major roads throughout the festive period.
The Police Command reassured residents of its commitment to maintaining a peaceful and crime-free environment and urged members of the public to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and cooperative with security operatives.
