The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Victor Olaiya, has ordered the full-scale deployment of police personnel and assets across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Niger State to ensure a safe and peaceful Yuletide celebration.
According to a press release signed by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, ASP Halima Mohammed, the directive, according to the Zone 7 Police Headquarters, is part of proactive, preventive and intelligence-driven security measures aimed at protecting lives and property before, during and after the festive period.
AIG Olaiya, while extending goodwill messages to residents, commuters and visitors, assured the public of the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the season. He stated that adequate human and operational resources have been deployed, intelligence-led policing strengthened, and inter-agency collaboration enhanced to guarantee a crime-free Yuletide across the Zone.
He disclosed that visibility policing, intensive vehicular and foot patrols, strategic stop-and-search operations and rapid response mechanisms have been activated along major highways, border communities, residential areas, markets, recreational centres and places of worship within the FCT and Niger State.
The AIG further emphasised that all officers and men deployed for festive duties have been directed to uphold professionalism, civility and respect for human rights, while remaining firm and decisive in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He also urged members of the public to remain calm, law-abiding and security-conscious, and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police formation or through designated emergency channels. According to him, effective security remains a shared responsibility between the police and the public.
The Zone 7 Police Headquarters reaffirmed its readiness to dominate the security space, prevent criminal activities and ensure that residents of the FCT and Niger State enjoy a safe, peaceful and hitch-free Yuletide celebration and beyond.
