The Cross River State Police Command has announced plans to conduct a routine shooting range exercise on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Asabanka in Anyanganse Community, Akpabuyo Local Government Area, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
According to a statement signed by ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command. the exercise is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to retrain personnel on proper weapon handling, inspect service firearms, and assess operational equipment in line with professional policing standards and best practices.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, urged members of the public not to panic at the sight of increased police presence or the sound of gunfire during the exercise, noting that officers would be carrying out official training activities within the designated range.

The Command also advised residents, farmers, hunters, and passersby to stay away from the shooting range and surrounding areas throughout the duration of the exercise.
It explained that the precautionary measure is aimed at preventing accidental exposure to stray bullets and avoiding any psychological distress that may arise from the sound of gunshots.
The police expressed appreciation for the understanding and cooperation of residents, while reaffirming their commitment to the protection of lives and property across Cross River State.
