Delta Police, Uvwie Monarch Launch Permanent Site For Effurun Area Command In Landmark Security Infrastructure Driver

In a significant move aimed at strengthening security architecture and enhancing policing operations in Delta State, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, on Tuesday participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the permanent site of the Effurun Area Command in Uvwie Kingdom.

The Commissioner of Police attended the event on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, underscoring the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to improving operational infrastructure and deepening community-focused policing across the country.

The ceremony, held in Effurun, attracted a distinguished gathering of traditional rulers, government officials, security chiefs, community leaders, and stakeholders who converged to witness the historic occasion. Leading the host community was His Royal Majesty, Emmanuel Sideso, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, alongside other revered monarchs from across the state.

Speaking at the event, CP Oyeniyi described the project as a major milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force in Delta State. He noted that the establishment of a permanent site for the Effurun Area Command would provide a conducive environment for effective policing, improve service delivery, and strengthen the security presence within Uvwie and surrounding communities.

According to him, modern policing requires adequate infrastructure capable of supporting intelligence-driven operations, rapid response mechanisms, and stronger engagement between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.

The groundbreaking ceremony was widely applauded by stakeholders, who described the project as a strategic investment in public safety and community development. Many noted that the permanent site would not only improve administrative and operational efficiency but also reinforce public confidence in the police.

The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom commended the Nigeria Police Force for its continued partnership with traditional institutions in promoting peace and security. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between security agencies, community leaders, and residents in addressing emerging security challenges and sustaining stability in the area.

The event also featured goodwill messages from government representatives, senior officers of sister security agencies, and community stakeholders, all of whom expressed support for the project and its anticipated impact on crime prevention and law enforcement within the region.

The planned permanent site for the Effurun Area Command is expected to serve as a modern operational hub, further strengthening the capacity of the Delta State Police Command to deliver effective policing services and respond to the growing security needs of residents in Effurun, Uvwie Kingdom, and neighbouring communities.

The ceremony marks another milestone in the Nigeria Police Force’s broader efforts to modernize its infrastructure and create an enabling environment for officers to carry out their constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property.
