The Integrity Youth Alliance has called on self-acclaimed activities Deji Adeyanju to show evidence that “NNPC can transfer billions of dollars into private accounts without anybody’s monitoring.”.
Reacting to Adeyanju’s allegations on Saturday, the Board Chairman of the Integrity Youth Alliance, Comrade Adewole Kehinde, said that with the transparency and accountability mechanisms put in place by the Group Chief Executive Officer of the NNPC Limited, Mal Mele Kyari, through the Transparency, Accountability, and Performance Excellence Agenda, it is not possible to “transfer billions of dollars into private accounts without anybody monitoring,” as insinuated by Adeyanju.
“It is on record that, in terms of transparency, Kyari led the effort to include NNPC Limited as an EITI-supporting company under the Global Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative. This adds NNPC Limited to the group of over 65 extractive companies—state-owned businesses—that have committed to upholding the accountability and transparency standards established by EITI., Adewole said.
“As we await Adeyanju to provide audited and evidenced accounts of payment into private accounts, we call on the management of the NNPC Limited under the indefatigable Mal. Mele Kyari to not relent in transforming Nigeria’s oil and gas sector via transparency and accountability-driven policies.
