Nenadi Usman Urges Nigerians To Embrace Hope, Unity At Christmas

The Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party, Senator Nenadi E. Usman, PhD, has called on Nigerians to use the Christmas season as a time for reflection, unity, and renewed hope despite the country’s prevailing challenges.

In her Christmas message to Nigerians on Tuesday, Senator Usman said the celebration of Christmas goes beyond festivity, stressing that it represents love, sacrifice, humility, and service to humanity as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

She urged citizens to demonstrate compassion, empathy, and love toward one another, noting that such values are crucial at a time when Nigeria continues to face poverty, insecurity, and other social challenges linked to poor leadership.

According to her, the Christmas season should serve as a rallying point for national unity, adding that the love symbolised by the birth of Christ remains a powerful tool for confronting despair, healing divisions, and overcoming hopelessness among Nigerians.

While acknowledging what she described as an era of anomie in the country, the Labour Party chieftain encouraged Nigerians not to lose faith in the nation, describing Nigeria as the only home its citizens share. She called for resilience, courage, and collective determination in the ongoing struggle for justice, equity, and good governance.

Senator Usman also appealed to those in positions of authority to emulate the virtues of Christ, stressing that the celebration of Christmas should be reflected in sincere actions, selfless leadership, and a genuine commitment to the welfare of the people.

She concluded by wishing Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a season filled with hope.

The message was signed by Senator Nenadi E. Usman, PhD, Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party, and dated December 24, 2025.
