New NCC Board Holds Induction Retreat In Uyo

The newly constituted Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has held its induction retreat in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, under the chairmanship of Chief Idris Olorunnimbe.

The retreat provided a platform for board members to engage with management on the commission’s strategic focus areas and to reaffirm the NCC’s critical role as a catalyst for growth in Nigeria’s digital economy.

Distinguished experts served as facilitators at the retreat. Mrs Yetunde Akinloye led an in-depth review of the Nigerian Communications Act (2003), while Mr Paul Usoro, SAN, shared insights into effective board governance and oversight in a national telecommunications regulatory environment.

Professor Hyacinth Nwana offered an international perspective on the evolving role of regulators and the future of regulation, and Professor Fabian Ajogwu, OFR, SAN, highlighted core principles of sound corporate governance.

Independent News Express reports that the sessions were rigorous and candid, with discussions centred on strengthening governance structures, enhancing regulatory credibility, and sharpening the Commission’s focus on outcomes for consumers, industry stakeholders, and Nigeria’s digital economy—key priorities at the heart of the NCC’s strategic mandate.
