….. Sparks fresh calls for accountability
A certified forensic investigation conducted by a Federal Government of Nigeria–recognized agency, alongside independent forensic science laboratories in the United States, has confirmed that the controversial voice recordings linked to Senator Natasha Akpoti are authentic and unaltered, according to a statement released on Wednesday.
The findings, described as final and evidentiary, reportedly establish that the recordings are genuinely Senator Akpoti’s voice and were neither cloned nor generated using artificial intelligence, nor manipulated or altered in any form. The conclusion effectively dismisses earlier claims suggesting technological fabrication or tampering.
Following the forensic determination, renewed public attention has turned to senior government officials and institutions previously involved in reviewing or responding to the matter. Critics are now questioning the role of the Attorney General of the Federation and other heads of government agencies who were alleged to have relied on or presented contrary narratives before the President prior to the independent review.
Legal and accountability concerns have also emerged regarding individuals described as “false whistleblowers”, who had publicly alleged that the recordings were funded or technologically manipulated. With those allegations now contradicted by forensic evidence, calls are growing for investigations into possible perjury, conspiracy, and the dissemination of false information.

Reacting to the development, Professor Sandra Chidinma Duru, who has been central to the controversy, said the forensic outcome vindicates her long-standing position and marks a turning point in the case. She maintained that she was subjected to sustained public attacks, legal battles, and reputational damage arising from what she described as coordinated acts of misinformation and abuse of power.
According to Duru, the controversy extended beyond personal attacks to include alleged harassment of her family and associates, resulting in financial losses and emotional distress. She noted that despite facing multiple legal challenges in Nigeria and abroad, she persisted in pursuing the matter and has recorded several legal and media victories.
“At this stage, the issue is no longer negotiable,” she stated, calling on the Federal Government and all implicated agencies to initiate prosecutions without delay, political interference, or favouritism. She further insisted that justice must be transparent and comprehensive, adding that no monetary compensation could fully address the harm allegedly suffered by her and her children.
The development has intensified public debate around institutional accountability, the handling of sensitive forensic evidence, and the consequences of misinformation within governance processes. Observers note that the case now places significant pressure on relevant authorities to respond decisively, as both domestic and international attention remain focused on the outcome.
As the forensic record stands uncontested, analysts say the next steps by law enforcement and prosecutorial authorities will be critical in determining whether the matter concludes as a landmark accountability case or deepens existing concerns over governance and the rule of law.
“The evidence speaks. The forensic record is clear,” Duru said, adding that global scrutiny has made the truth, in her words, “no longer deniable.”
