The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, has deployed 1,700 personnel across the state to strengthen security ahead of the anticipated influx of visitors during the Yuletide season.
According to a press release signed by the Osun State Civil Defence PRO, ASCI Kehinde Adeleke, the Osun State Commandant of the NSCDC, Igbalawole Sotiyo, disclosed this on Monday at the Command’s headquarters, saying the deployment is part of a comprehensive security arrangement designed to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free festive period.
According to Sotiyo, the festive season typically witnesses increased human and vehicular movement as residents and visitors travel into the state, necessitating heightened security measures to safeguard lives and protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.

He said Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have been directed to strategically deploy personnel to places of worship, markets, motor parks, recreational centres, critical infrastructure, and other identified flashpoints across Osun State.
The Commandant further charged all Divisional Officers to remain proactive and vigilant, noting that the Command is working closely with other security agencies to provide round-the-clock security before, during, and after the festivities.
Sotiyo explained that the deployment is supported by intensified visibility patrols, intelligence-led operations, and rapid response teams to address any security threats promptly.
He warned miscreants and criminal elements to stay away from the state, stressing that the Command would deal decisively with anyone attempting to disrupt public peace and order.
The NSCDC boss also urged residents to support security efforts by promptly reporting suspicious persons or activities to the nearest security agency.
On behalf of officers and men of the NSCDC, Osun State Command, Sotiyo wished residents a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, assuring them of the Corps’ continued commitment to maintaining a safe and secure Osun State.
