The Nigeria Police Force, Airport Command, Lagos, has uncovered an aviation-related fraud involving goods valued at 16,000 Canadian dollars and arrested a 52-year-old suspect in connection with the crime.
The suspect, identified as Moshood Olayinka, was arrested following an investigation into a case of conspiracy, theft, and fraud linked to a shipment originating from Canada and destined for Lagos. The goods involved were valued at $16,000 CAD, equivalent to about N17.03 million.
According to a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Airport Police Command, Lagos ASP Mohammed Adeola, the case was reported on December 4, 2025, when the NAHCO Airport Police Division received a formal complaint over a suspicious consignment. Investigations revealed that Olayinka fraudulently procured the goods from Duplicom Business Products Ltd., Canada, using fake credit card details.
The consignment comprised 12 NEC projectors and 12 Automatic External Defibrillators (AED Plus). Although the total value of the items was $16,000 CAD, only $4,000 CAD was successfully processed before the transaction was flagged, after the goods had already been handed over to a Canada-based shipping company for onward delivery to Nigeria.

Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, CP Ogunbode Olufunke, ordered a discreet and intelligence-driven investigation. Police investigations established that the suspect used counterfeit credit cards to facilitate the purchase and also forged an invoice presented to the shipping company in an attempt to legitimise the transaction.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Airport Command tracked and arrested the suspect, who reportedly confessed to his involvement in the fraud. Investigations are ongoing to determine the possible involvement of other accomplices and to recover all assets linked to the crime.
Police authorities also disclosed that arrangements are being made to return the goods to Canada after the conclusion of investigations and the arraignment of the suspect in court.
CP Ogunbode reaffirmed the commitment of the Airport Police Command to combating criminal activities within the aviation sector, stressing that intelligence-led policing will continue to be deployed to safeguard Nigeria’s airports, international trade channels and the travelling public.
