FCT Police Foil Armed Robbery In Karu, Arrest One Suspect, Recover Firearm

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has foiled an armed robbery operation at Karu Site, arresting one suspect and recovering a firearm and other dangerous items.

According to FCT Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, December 27, 2025, at about 3:43 a.m., following a distress call received through the Command’s emergency number reporting an ongoing robbery at a residential building in the area.

A police response team from Karu Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), was immediately deployed to the scene. On sighting the officers, the suspects reportedly opened fire, prompting a professional response from the police.

During the operation, one suspect, identified as Abdul Mohammed, a 20-year-old male from Masaka, Nasarawa State, was subdued and arrested, while two other accomplices escaped.

Items recovered from the scene include two mobile phones, one locally fabricated firearm, four live cartridges, two knives, a cutlass, and a torchlight. The arrested suspect is currently receiving medical attention, while investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Commending the swift response and professionalism of the officers, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc, urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 and 07057337653.

The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents across the territory.
