The Delta State Police Command has assured residents of adequate security before, during and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations, following the massive deployment of personnel and operational assets across the state.
The Commissioner of Police ordered the large-scale deployment to guarantee a peaceful, hitch-free festive season and safeguard lives and property. Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Tactical Commanders have been directed to identify and station officers at all venues of festivities, relaxation spots and other public places to forestall criminal activities.
According to the Command, patrol teams drawn from the Dragon Patrol, Safer Highways, Quick Response Squad, Rapid Response Squad, CP-SAT and Eagle-Net Special Squad have been deployed along major routes, including the Asaba–Onitsha Head Bridge, Anwai Campus Gate to Illah, Onicha-Ugbo to Idumuje-Ugboko, PTI axis, DSC Roundabout, Asaba–Agbor Expressway, Abraka–Eku Road and Asaba–Kwale/Ughelli Road. Additional patrols from Abraka, Ughelli and Sapele Divisions are covering major expressways within their jurisdictions.
Heavy security presence has also been established at flashpoints within the Asaba metropolis, such as Summit Junction, Inter-Bau Roundabout, Federal Medical Centre Roundabout, Ibusa Junction on Nnebisi Road, Ogbe-Ogonogo Market, Government House Gate, Coker Junction, Ezenie/Osadenis Roundabout, Airport Junction and the Federal College Junction on Nnebisi Road.

To ease movement during the festive rush, police personnel and traffic wardens have been deployed to manage traffic at the Asaba–Onitsha Head Bridge and other busy areas. The DPOs of ‘B’ and ‘C’ Divisions, Asaba, alongside the State Traffic Officer, have been tasked with coordinating traffic control efforts with other security agencies. In Warri, Effurun and surrounding areas, the DPOs of Ekpan and Ebrumede Divisions have been directed to ensure both security and free flow of traffic, particularly around the DSC and Effurun roundabouts.
The Command has also deployed Marine Police operatives along waterways to curb sea piracy and illegal bunkering, with special focus on the Escravos, Burutu and Warri waterways, to protect traders and travellers.
Additionally, the Commissioner of Police mandated the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, to commence continuous “Operation Show of Force” across the state from Sunday, December 21, 2025.
The Police Command urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining law and order and protecting lives and property. The Commissioner of Police, on behalf of officers and men of the Command, wished Deltans and Nigerians a peaceful and hitch-free festive celebration.
