The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has foiled a car-snatching attempt and recovered three vehicles following a swift operation by officers of the Galadima Police Division.

The incident occurred on December 12, 2025, at about 7:43 p.m., during a routine stop-and-search operation around Efab Bridge. According to the police, operatives heard a gunshot from a nearby location and immediately moved to investigate.

On arrival at the scene, the officers encountered four armed suspects who attempted to flee with two vehicles—a 2014 Hyundai Elantra with registration number DKA 776 FW and a 2008 Lexus IS 250 with registration number KWL 530 BM. The suspects reportedly opened fire while escaping, prompting a tactical response from the police. Under pressure, the suspects abandoned the vehicles and fled.

Police operatives recovered all three vehicles involved in the incident, including the suspects’ operational vehicle, a white Volkswagen, at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspects.

Commending the prompt and proactive response of the operatives, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to crime prevention and the protection of lives and property across the territory. He urged residents to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via the FCT Police Command emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08028940883.

The information was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, anipr, mipra, and dated December 15, 2025.
