Christian Council Of Nigeria Commends Lagos CP Jimoh Moshood For Professional Policing

The Programmes Coordinator of the Christian Council of Nigeria, Nkechi Thelma Oseni, has commended the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Jimoh Moshood, for what she described as improved safety and professional policing since assuming office.

In a letter of commendation addressed to the Lagos State Police Command, Oseni noted that residents and visitors have witnessed a renewed commitment to professionalism, intelligence-driven policing and increased security presence across the state under Moshood’s leadership.

She stated that the commissioner’s security management approach reflects the demands of modern policing, combining strategic thinking with active engagement with the community.

Oseni particularly praised the command’s shift toward intelligence-led operations, noting that it has significantly strengthened crime detection and prevention efforts in the state. According to her, decisive actions taken against cultism and organised criminal networks, including the arrest of suspected gang leaders and other offenders, have helped restore a sense of safety in several communities.

The Christian Council of Nigeria official also highlighted the Lagos command’s adoption of technology in crime prevention, including the deployment of surveillance cameras in strategic locations and improvements in communication systems. She said these measures demonstrate a forward-looking approach that aligns policing in Lagos with global best practices.

She further commended the command’s collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders, saying the partnership has strengthened the internal security architecture of the state.

According to her, visible patrols, responsive policing and improved relationships between officers and members of the public have helped rebuild trust and reinforced the principle that effective policing must be based on partnership with the people.

Oseni also acknowledged the professionalism displayed by officers of the Lagos State Police Command during sensitive periods such as elections and major public events, noting that maintaining peace and order during such periods requires careful planning, discipline and leadership.

She described Lagos as the economic nerve centre of Nigeria and one of Africa’s most dynamic cities, stressing that sustaining peace and security in such a complex environment requires dedicated leadership.

Oseni therefore encouraged Moshood to sustain the momentum by continuing to promote inclusive leadership within the command, including the appointment of deserving female officers as Divisional Police Officers.

She expressed appreciation for the commissioner’s dedication to duty and wished him continued success in the discharge of his responsibilities.
