…Says Appointment Reflects President’s Resolve to Entrust Key National Institutions to Professionals with Proven Competence
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for the nomination of an illustrious son of Gombe State, Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed, as the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The Governor, while reacting to the development, described it as well-considered and reassuring, noting that it reflects the President’s resolve to entrust key national institutions to professionals with proven competence, experience and integrity.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya described Engr. Mohammed as a thoroughbred energy professional whose career in the oil and gas industry has been defined by depth, discipline and excellent results.

He noted that Engr. Mohammed brings about 40 years of experience in the sector, with particular strength in natural gas development, commercialization and infrastructure delivery.
The Governor expressed confidence that Engr. Saidu Mohammed’s calm leadership, industry knowledge and broad experience will strengthen the NMDPRA and support the effective implementation of Mr. President’s reforms agenda in the midstream and downstream petroleum sectors.
He thanked President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in a worthy son of Gombe State and wished Engr. Mohammed success as he takes on the important national responsibility in service to the country.
An illustrious son of Gombe, Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed is a highly experienced energy professional who played a central role in Nigeria’s gas expansion and reform efforts during his tenure as Group Executive Director and COO, Gas and Power at the NNPC.
He contributed to key policies such as the Gas Masterplan, Gas Network Code and the Petroleum Industry Act, and supported major projects including the Escravos-Lagos Pipeline Expansion, AKK Gas Pipeline and Nigeria LNG.
He has also represented Nigeria internationally, led key energy institutions and holds strong professional credentials as a COREN-registered engineer and Fellow of leading engineering bodies, with a Chemical Engineering degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
