Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a leading governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Dr Musa Muhammed Maikaya, has described the former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, as a pivotal figure in the political and developmental growth of the Toto Local Government Area.
Maikaya made the remarks while hosting the Central Working Committee and campaign organisation of the former Speaker at his residence in Toto. The delegation was led by the Central Coordinator of the group, Hon. Danladi Katakpa, alongside ward coordinators and other party stakeholders.
According to Maikaya, Balarabe’s years in office were marked by people-oriented leadership, which translated into tangible development across his constituency and Toto LGA at large. He noted that the former Speaker consistently placed public interest above personal considerations.
“Balarabe’s political structure in Toto is one of the most focused and determined I have ever seen. His leadership style and commitment to uplifting people through government opportunities speak volumes about his courage and selflessness,” Maikaya said.
He added that both he and the former Speaker have resolved to put aside past differences to pursue a common goal of peace, unity and development in Toto LGA and Nasarawa State. Maikaya stressed that they are both working in support of the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
“Both Balarabe and I are answerable to the government of Governor Abdullahi Sule. We have buried the past to pursue a shared interest that will benefit our people,” he stated.

Maikaya also formally declared his ambition to succeed Governor Sule, appealing to the people of Toto LGA for their support. He said securing the backing of the former Speaker was crucial, given Balarabe’s strong political base and influence in the area.
He commended Governor Sule for his support of Balarabe during his tenure as Speaker and for initiating peaceful resolutions and development projects in Toto LGA, assuring the governor of his continued loyalty.
In his response, Hon. Danladi Katakpa thanked Maikaya for what he described as his magnanimity and inclusive approach to politics. He said the invitation to the meeting was endorsed by Rt Hon. Balarabe Abdullahi, a sign of the seriousness attached to the engagement.
Katakpa affirmed that members of the Balarabe Political Organisation remain disciplined and result-oriented, adding that their political direction is firmly guided by the former Speaker and Governor Sule.
Speaking after the meeting, former Executive Chairman of Toto LGA and Secretary-General of the Balarabe Central Working Committee, Prince Nuhu Adamu Dauda, described the meeting as historic, noting that such an engagement was unprecedented in the political history of Toto.
He said the group was fully aligned with the leadership of Rt Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi and Governor Abdullahi Sule described their guidance as the strength of the organisation. Dauda also praised Maikaya as a focused leader committed to adding value to the people of Nasarawa State.
The meeting attracted former local government chairmen, serving local government and state appointees, party leaders and other political stakeholders from across Toto LGA.
