Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the appointment of Chairmen and Board Members for state-owned institutions.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who conveyed the governor’s approval, announced as follows:
1. College of Education and Legal Studies, Nafada
Hon. Hajiya Aishatu Jibrin Dukku (Chairman) with the following as members: Abubakar Mohammed (Rtd Judge) (Gombe South),
Barr. Ya’u Mohammed Kwadon (Gombe Central), Dr. Buhari Magaji (Gombe North) Representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Justice, the Judiciary, and the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), the College Provost, 2 selected members of the Academic Board of the College, and a member of the Academic Staff, while the College Registrar serves as Secretary.
2. College of Education, Billiri
Dr. Mohammed Kwara Tal ( Chairman)
Members include Abdullahi Turaki Dukku (Gombe North), Mr. Danjuma Mele (Gombe Central), Hajiya Jamila Zakari (Gombe South), a Representative of Min. of Higher Education, 2 Members of the Academic Board, a Representative of National Commission for Colleges of Education, the Provost of the College and the Deputy Provost. The Registrar of the College serves as Secretary.
3. Gombe State Polytechnic, Bajoga
Engr. Abdullahi Suleiman Kwami (Chairman), with the following members: Abubakar Musa Toli (Gombe South), Alh. Mohammed Abubakar DO Tumu (Gombe Central), Alhaji Idris Saleh (Gombe North), and Umar Abdulsalam Ciroma Bacciji (Sa’i) representing the Host community, a representative of the National Board for
Technical and Business Education, a representative of the Min. of Higher Education, a representative of the Academic Board of the Polytechnic, a representative of the National Society of Engineers and the Rector of the Polytechnic. The registrar of the polytechnic is the secretary.
4. Gombe State College of Health Science and Technology, Kaltungo
Hazael S. Chechara (Chairman), while the following few were appointed as members: Alh. Mohammed Baba Nafada (Gombe North), Alh. Baba Mato Kumo (Gombe Central), Mrs Rukkaiya Hassan Burak (Gombe South), Permanent Secretary, Min. of Higher Education, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance Economic Development, 2 Elected Members of the Academic Board,1 Elected Member Representing the congregation, the Provost of the College, Director Primary Health Services. Director Pharmaceutical Services while the Registrar serves as Secretary.
All the appointments are with effect from 16th February 2025.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya expects the newly appointed chairmen and board members to bring to bear, their expertise to enhance the academic and administrative standards of their respective institutions.
Meanwhile, the Governor will perform the inauguration of the boards on Thursday, 20th February, by Noon at the new Banquet Hall, Government House.
