Alliance To #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Organising Committee: Your Call For Sack Of IGP Inconsequential

The Integrity Youth Alliance has scolded the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria organising committee for asking President Bola Tinubu to sack the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for the killing of peaceful protesters.

The Chairman of the IYA, Comrade Adewole Kehinde, reacted to the call in a statement he issued on Friday.

Kehinde said the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria organising committee seemed carried away with their baseless candlelight symposium held at the Rights House in Ikeja, Lagos State, on Friday to have made such a nasty statement.

He said: “We want to remind the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria organising committee that they will soon pay for their wanton destruction and killing of policemen during the unsuccessful hunger protests across the country as we gather all necessary evidence to charge them to court.

The Alliance called on President Tinubu to ignore the baseless call from the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria organising committee but rather set up a committee to look into the wanton looting and killing carried out by the group and face prosecution.

Recall that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, says security operatives did not shoot live ammunition at protesters during the #EndBadGovernance demonstration.

During a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, 6th August 2024, Egbetokun said security agencies did not deploy excessive use of force during the protest.

The IGP said some security operatives were attacked during the protest, adding that police officers, who were injured, are currently in critical condition at the hospital.

Egbetokun described the reports of police shooting at unarmed protesters as fake news.
