The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Command Headquarters, Abuja, which supervises the FCT and Niger State Police Commands, AIG Ogundele Joshua Ayodeji, joined by the management team of the zone meets with stakeholders in the hiking community in the FCT in line with the Community Policing strategy of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to get everyone involved in policing business to achieve sustainable results in terms of security.
In a press release on Thursday, 14th March 2024 signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 7 Command HQ, Abuja, DSP M.B Abdulkadir, said that the hiking group made up members from four major hiking groups in Abuja and its environs congratulated the Nigeria Police Force for the successful demonstration of the mixed martial arts at the recently concluded BIPOGA OLUYOLE 2024 games held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Spokesman of the group at the meeting in person of ASC Joseph Efosa Babade, who is also the founder of the hiking group called Adventure Seekers made it known to the top ranks of the zone that there are various Hiking Groups in the FCT with thousands of members from different social strata and it has provided a platform for teamwork and volunteerism which is critical for community participation in policing business in the 21st century.
The group also extended their gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun for his commitment to making sure that FCT and other neighboring states are safe and secure for residents and citizens to go about their lawful business. They also appealed to the police to support them in their activities.
In response, the AIG thanked the group for meeting with him, and he assured them that the security situation in the FCT has improved tremendously in the last one month. He reassured the group that the police would support them in all ramifications. He explained that the meeting also provided a good platform for the police to engage the public and seek for their contribution or ways to promote safety and security in the FCT and Niger State. He further urged the group to feel free to reach out to him on any issues, particularly on issues related to human rights of citizens and Child protection.
The group also presented the AIG with souvenirs in preparation for the Battle of the Paikokun Mountain for a Safer Abuja Together which consists of a planned hiking on Saturday 16th of March 2024, and the subsequent Mix Martial Arts fight night coming up on the 30th of March, 2024 at the MO Arena, Abuja.
