The Executive Council delegation of the Anambra State Government, led by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, had a historic meeting over the weekend at the US Consulate General in Lagos. There, they had strategic talks with William Stevens, the US Consul-General, and high-ranking executives from 26 well-known US high-tech companies.
Important individuals in this esteemed Executive Council delegation included Ms Chinwe Okoli, Special Advisor to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, CFA, MD/CEO of the Anambra State ICT Agency, and Uchechukwu Christian, State Commissioner for Industry.
The meeting’s objectives were to find ways to work together, create business partnerships, and develop technology collaborations to hasten Anambra State’s development. To promote shared prosperity between Anambra State, its tech companies, and their American counterparts, the summit also offered a chance to strengthen strategic collaborations for economic development and technology exchange.
The Anambra delegation took advantage of the occasion to showcase the state’s technological advancements made possible by Governor Soludo’s inspiring leadership as well as the government’s strategic strategy to create an Anambra that is a hub for the tech industry.

Chukwuemeka highlighted the major projects propelling the state’s technological revolutions. The Anambra State ICT Agency’s MD/CEO, Fred Agbata, emphasised the Governor’s dedication to making Anambra a vibrant centre for innovation and digital transformation.
Participating US high-tech companies in the discussions expressed their eagerness to support Anambra State in various ways. For example, Amazon Web Services pledged strong support for the State’s Digital Health and Education Transformation initiatives, and Dell and HP offered technical support and significant discounts for future devices purchased in the state. In addition, Meta promised to strengthen their partnership with Anambra by working with partners like IGHub and the Fate Foundation, and Google expressed interest in launching several pilot programmes and looking into ways to improve SMEs’ online visibility in Anambra and increase their digital footprints.
The fact that the Anambra State Government and these tech industry titans are aware that these commitments are preliminary and subject to additional discussion and refinement to transform them into significant projects that will result in long-lasting positive change for the people of Anambra, is noteworthy, though.
This strategic partnership is a major step forward for Anambra State in its transformation into a technology-driven hub, and it fits in well with Mr. Governor’s goal of making Anambra State the creative and digital capital of Nigeria. Undoubtedly, the alliances formed with these powerful industry players will spur innovation, economic expansion, and social advancement in the state.
In his speech, Governor Soludo thanked US businesses for their readiness to help Anambra grow technologically and emphasised the state’s commitment to fostering innovation and a collaborative atmosphere while serving as governor.
