FICRPC, FCIAR, FICJ, FIMC, CMC, MSPSP, MCIMC, OFO dim Ubulu Ihejiofo Ancient Kingdom Oru West Local Government Area Imo State, Nigeria will on Tuesday, January.16th 2024 present a chieftaincy title, Mmiri Oma Ezechukwu Kwetara to Hon. Ephraim Obiamaukwu in recognition of his humanitarian Services, Public spirit, and invaluable contributions to Community Development in Dim Ubulu Ihejiofo Ancient Kingdom, Ubulu, Oru Nation, Orlu Zone, Imo State etc.
Ephraim hails from Umuoru Ubulu in Oru West LGA, Imo State. He is the last child of the Late Chief Sir Paul Anyaoku & late Lady Caroline Ejekuego (Nee Onuzo) Obiamaukwu. Ephraim has been a grass-rooted community builder, service-driven right from a young age.
While in secondary school at CSSU, he was the Labor Prefect and the President of the Press Club of the school. While in a higher institution at Imo State University Owerri, he was the Director of the Social ORU Student Union (East and West) at IMSU.
During his National Youth Service Corps NYSC, he was made the head of the English Department, temporarily at Government Science School Nasarawa State and also the editor-in-chief of Pace Setter Magazine, GSS, Nasarawa.
After NYSC, was appointed as the Special Assistant Administration to the Chairman of Oru West LGA from 2003 -2007. The position he used even at a very low salary level, touched a lot of lives in his community Ubulu.
He was instrumental in Late Eze TC Ezejiogu’s travel to Israel for the very first time during that period. Working together with the councillors, they represented Ubulu most effectively and efficiently.
From Oru West Council, Ephraim became an SA in the Imo State House of Assembly working with the then-member representing ORU West Constituency, Hon. Donatus Onuigwe. He was the secretary of the Association of PAs/SAs in the House. He was also the National PRO Gov. Ohakim Youth Vanguard.
The quest for greener pastures made him leave the shores of Nigeria in the year 2010 for the United States of America.
The same spirit of community building and service made him join Umu Orlu organizations in New York/ United States of America. In 2016, he was elected the Secretary General of the Orlu Cultural Federation (OCUFE) in New York. The position he held and diligently served the organization for 4years.
He was also elected as a Delegate representing OCUFE in ORAUSA. And appointed as the Secretary of Orlu Regional Assembly (ORAUSA) Free Medical Mission from 2016 till date.
The position that enabled him to attract ORAUSA Free Medical Mission to Ubulu in the year 2019 when it was turned for Oru West LGA.
Ephraim was also elected as the President of Orlu Cultural Federation (OCUFE) New York, in the year 2020 after finishing his tenure as the Secretary of the new. He is currently the incumbent President of OCUFE New York, an organization that has consistently been in existence since 1998. Ephraim is the 14th President of OCUFE New York.
In 2018 ndi Ubulu in the US beckoned on him to help revive the Ubulu meetings in the US knowing that he could do that and he super-headed the reformation of the mtoting, bringing ndi Ubulu in different parts of the USA and Canada after about twenty years of the union being moribund and he became the leader and changed the name from Ubulu Progressive Union to Ubulu United USA and Canada.
In 2020, he was officially elected as the President, the position he is currently occupying. Through this Ubulu Union, Ephraim as the President has been able to impact Ubulu most positively in terms of infrastructural developments.
In 2020, Ephraim and a few other personalities from Ubulu in the US financially supported the priestly ordination of our brother, Rev. Kenneth Adimike.
In 2022, about 62 JAMB Candidates from Ubulu received free UME registration at ten thousand per registrant from Ubulu United USA.
Still, under Ephraim’s administration, UUU has completed a two-classroom block with toilet facilities at Central School CKC Ubulu and Ephraim has approved replicating the same structure in every primary school in Ubulu; Mbachu, Nobis, Eziama and Ifebigbo Primary Schools respectively.
Under Ephraim’s administration also, Ubulu United USA and Canada successfully held the first-ever large convention in Atlanta Georgia, in 2023.
Ephraim has been the Umuoru Youth Chairman for over four years and presently, the dilapidated Umuoru Health Center structures are undergoing renovations.
In the past four years, Ephraim has given bags of rice to Umuoru village women during Christmas.
He and his cousin single-handedly sponsored the procurement of some electric poles and wires to boost the electricity supply to Umuoru Akaba communities.
Ephraim actively participates in everything concerning the development of Ubulu, he is one of the big donors in the ongoing scholarship scheme in Ubulu. Ephraim donated to every widow’s project as coordinated by the president-general.
He donated to the Umunna Amadehi Road project and even the Oru North Development Center Solar Light Project. There are many other areas Ephraim has been serving ndi Ubulu and humanity in general, too many to mention.
